This week @ GSFM

African Drummers Perform

Wrapping up our wide variety of music this season at GSFM will be the African Drummers from Saint Colman’s. Join them on Saturday, October 19th at 11am to celebrate musical diversity in our neighborhood! Come early for a family friendly drum making workshop using reclaimed materiels. This music project has been organized by a group of neighborhood residents with assistance from Neighborhood Connections.

Brain/Belly Day Reschedule

Due to the torrential downpour on Brain/Belly Day, we will be having a book giveaway once again this Saturday, October 19th. All books donated to GSFM courtesy of Half Price Books.

EcoVillage Produce, Cleveland Bagel Company, Beet Jar Juice Bar, Shelby’s Soy Candles, Bethany Church, and more vendors will be at market this week. Come support our vendors for our final two weeks.

Eater Update

Holy cow! There are only a couple of weeks left of the regular market.  I think that I have finally managed to finish all of the pumpkin from my freezer just in time to start over again freezing it, which is exactly the way that it is supposed to work.  Pumpkin and other winter squash in the freezer is one component of my definition of food security in the winter.  The weather has conveniently cooled off enough for turning on the oven for roasting squashes.  But I have also seen some beautiful broccoli recently, and of course, we are heading into the time of year when kale shows exactly how sturdy it is, standing up to cooler and even downright cold temperatures.  So, just as I find myself wanting something warmer than salad for dinner, many vegetables are just coming into their own.  It is almost like a plan.  I hope everyone is thinking about how to stock up for the chilly times coming between the end of october and the harvest and holiday markets at the arcade.
